If grilling: Preheat the grill or grill pan to high heat. Grill the patties until a crust develops and they are no longer pink in the center, approximately 6 minutes. Flip the patties and immediately brush the top of each patty with melted butter. Cook for an additional 3 minutes, then add the cheese. Continue cooking to achieve the desired level of doneness, approximately 3 minutes more for medium.
